Weight Loss Myths
Is it any wonder that we are a
nation of confused overweight people? With so many different
claims made about how best to lose weight and specific to
us, to achieve fitness weight loss, who can blame
us? Of course not everyone wants to be a Fitness Model or
follow a fitness weight
loss program. So, if you are a woman who
simply wants to start by shedding a little body fat, a dress
size or two perhaps as well as to tone and tighten your body a
little so your clothes hang that much nicer on you, let’s take
a closer look at some of the popular weight loss
myths!
Weight Loss Myths
1. The best way to
lose weight is to take part in regular ‘intensive’
exercise!
False! Whilst regular
intensive exercise will result in weight loss and may be a
great way for a super fit Fitness Model to train, for most
people including those on a fitness weight
loss program, a better, safer and more sustainable way to
lose weight and to keep it off, is simply to make
sensible ‘healthy’ changes to your diet, combined with taking
the right, ‘sensible’ regular exercise. The key word is
‘sensible’: If over the next 6 months you were to lose on
average – just 1 - 1½ per pound a week (a very achievable goal
for most people); you would shed an amazing 26 – 39 pounds in
just 26 weeks! The requirement to take regular 'intensive'
exercise in order to lose weight is definately one of the
weight loss myths.

2: The
best way to lose weight is to eat as little as you
can!
False! As far as weight loss
myths go this is plain crazy! Not only are you likely to do
long term damage to your health but this sort of diet is
impossible to maintain. You will be drained of energy causing
you to crave high-fat and high-sugar foods. Starving yourself
and then binging out on high fat and high sugar food - what a
way to exist! Alternatively you could eat a sensible diet of
high ‘quality’ ‘lower fat’, ‘low sugar’ food options. This
would satisfy your appetite and as a result you would have no
desire to binge out on high fat, high sugar foods. You would
achieve but also maintain a sensible weight and you would look
great and feel great and have loads of energy!

3. Slimming
pills are effective for achieving long term weight
loss.
False – No way! So you are
going to spend the rest of your life popping pills are you?
Don’t expect to have a long and happy life if you do! Let’s get
real shall we? You probably look after your car better than you
look after your body? Look, your body is very precious; you can
trade in your car for another one if you mess it up; not so
with your body. Don’t abuse your body with slimming pills! To
function the way it is intended your body needs ‘high quality’
fuel! That fuel is not available in tablet form – period! Ok,
so you go on a program of slimming pills and you achieve what
ever it is you are trying to achieve! Then what? Are you going
to keep taking pills forever – of course not! You are going to
return to ‘normal eating aren’t you? Unfortunately your idea of
normal eating is what got you in the mess in the first place!
What have you learnt about sensible healthy eating whilst you
have been stuffing your face with pills? If you want to achieve
great fitness weight loss avoid
slimming pills!

4. Healthy
foods are too expensive!
False! This is nothing more
than a lame excuse usually given by ‘bone idle lazy fat
people’! What they really mean is they can’t be bothered to go
out and buy wonderful fresh ingredients with which to create
‘delicious mouth watering’, ‘wholesome healthy’, meals. They
certainly can’t be bothered to get off their fat backside and
prepare and cook or learn to cook the very food that would
resolve their problem! Good wholesome fresh ‘real food’ is not
necessarily more expensive than the unhealthy alternatives that
you are probably gorging on right now! You know those
‘high-fat’, ‘high-salt’, ‘heart attack inducing’ ‘ready meals’
you get in the local store and the ‘fast food muck’ that you
get from those fast food chains and fast food outlets! Do
yourself a favor - Stop making excuses and get out and start
buying ‘fresh’ ingredients with which to make your own
delicious healthy meals. Can't cook? Learn!

Cutting
out all snacks can help you lose
weight
Snacking per-se
isn't the problem: it's the type of snack you eat. Many
people, particularly active people need a snack in between
meals to maintain energy levels. If you are following a
fitness weight loss program you don't want to be cutting out
all snacks, just the unhealthy ones. So, choose snacks
wisely eg fruit or vegetables instead of crisps, chocolate
and other snacks that are high in sugar or saturated
fat.
